The sea lions at Pier 39 in San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. They just turned up one day, a few years ago, loved it and stayed! And now they are protected by law. Have you found your perfect spot?

ReplyDeleteA great shot!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many there - wow.
My post is here: Carletta’s Captures.
I recently saw sea lions on my trip to Alaska but not that many. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many sea lions are in this photo! And piled on one another! Incredible shot!
ReplyDeletewell...my perfect spot is probably nowhere near the sea lions...spent some childhood years in monterey, cali and remember the noisey, stinky wonder of sea lions...
ReplyDeletemy perfect spot is in a private tropical beach setting, probably in the keys...on a hammock, w/ ocean breezes blowing thru palms and lots of bird sounds...
WONDERFUL view of these critters camped out sunning themselves near the water!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Who could say no to free lodging in San Francisco? These fellas travel around the bay and frustrate crabbers and fishermen by grabbing their baits.
ReplyDeleteI have been to SF a few times on business, and I always have to go down to Pier 39 and look at the sea lions. Thanks for a great shot
ReplyDeleteLove it! We're a military family so our perfect spot is wherever we happen to be at the time. We always managed to find that spot no matter where we are. Hugs, Jen
ReplyDeleteThat is incredible that they just showed up one day and decided to stay. Amazing pic.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day

ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me again.. i think my tuesday travels would fit in well with Watery Wednesday!
Well, since there is no room for me at Pier 39...I think it might be at my own home!

I have seen this phenomenon up close and personal, as they say. It's amazing, isn't it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! I have never seen so many sea lions.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What a magnificent sight! They are having a wonderful time sunning and just lounging... we could take a lesson or two!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I've never seen anything remotely like that! What a sight!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Is that kind of overcrowding allowed in SF tenements? LOL Glorious shot, pity you did not make if big enough to enlarge.
ReplyDeleteThey are an amazing sight and they did just show up in droves one year. But, they torture the fishermen trying to make a living, they smell and they are so loud! They also chased all the boat owners who had slips there right out of the harbor because when the city tried to get them out of there - well, let's just say there was a group of very vocal activists that didn't agree that the humans who were paying a bazillion dollars in revenue to the city for that prime location for their boats had a right to that spot over the seals. The squeaky wheel won and the seals have been there for about 20 years now.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect spot would be in Pacific Grove or Pismo Beach! Two incredibly gorgeous - yet very different - CA coastal communities.
Enjoyed reading your blog today..Love it and all the pictures. I am still finding my way around blogland....I always love making new friends..I am posting about Disney so hope you will stop by. Commenting automatically puts you in the drawing for the June giveaway.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! Aw, how sweet that those sea lions found their spot! Love it! You know I found my spot (in my own backyard) so now I just need to get a few tiki torches to make it feel a little more tropical :-)
