It's hard to believe that Estee Lauder (1908 - 2004) lived her life indoors, even at her seasonal escape in Palm Beach. "She didn’t like the wind to mess up her hair," says daughter in law Evelyn, senior Vice President of Estee Lauder.

Welcome to your first Pink Saturday. I will tell you that I am a beach dreamer, too. I spent most of my life with ten miles of the ocean or gulf. Now we are about two hours away, and I quite often need an ocean "fix".
ReplyDeleteOh, how I would love to be able to visit that house. Their are so many gorgeous homes in South Florida.
Saturday mornings are mine. I spend them traveling the web, hopping from page to page visiting some of the most lovely blogs loaded with pink all thanks to Beverly and her great idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your pink this week and for making my morning just a little bit brighter. Wishing you a special weekend filled with fun and family.
Love your Beach picture....I am a beach girl at heart!

I agree...what a shame that she spent her life indoors because she was worried about her hair getting messed. Happy Pink Saturday!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting us and becoming a follower because it gave us the opportunity to find you and your lovely and inspiring blog. We never dreamed of living by the sea, as we grew up in a big city with no beach closer than a 5 hours drive, but we do now! (you never know where life will take you, do you?). Living in So California,we came to love beach decorating style and everything fun, white and relaxing. We hope you'll visit often...we sure will!
ReplyDeleteThanks once again for a lovely Saturday surprise,
Marcela & Clara

I thought maybe she spent her time indoors to avoid sun damage. Happy PS!
ReplyDeleteBHD, thank you for visiting my blog and for the kudos on the almond shells.
ReplyDeleteThe content on your beautiful blog reflects everything I have always loved. Having lived on the pearl of the caribbean, Cuba (although, I prefer the name, Pearl of the Caribbean best, don't you? [G], I appreciate everything about it, the mild climate, its beaches, and of course, its people.
In any case, if I were lucky enough to wake up every morning to a view like the one above, I don't care if my hair looked like Phyllis Diller's, I'd never spend one blessed minute inside that house.
Happy Pink Saturday!
i watched an interesting documentary one night about estee lauder and her cosmetic rival helena rubenstein.
ReplyDeletehappy pink saturday to you!

Perfect for Pink Saturday! I can't imagine not wanting to go outside. To heck with the hair. Missed so much worrying about vanity!
